CHESTER, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's soccer team recently helped run Chester-Upland's Soccer for Success Play Day at PPL Park.
Soccer for Success is the US Soccer Foundation's free after-school program that uses soccer as a tool to address children's health issues and juvenile delinquency, while promoting healthy lifestyles in urban underserved communities. The Play Day at PPL Park featured 140 Soccer for Success participants from seven schools in the Chester-Upland School district. The participants toured the Philadelphia Union's PPL park and played in a sixteen-team, round-robin tournament officiated by the Garnet men's soccer players.
Sophomore Tyler Zon (running, center) keeps up with the play while Garnet Soccer Alum
and Soccer For Success coach Evan Nesterak '09 watches on.
