RESULTSEWING, N.J. – Junior captain
Osazenoriuwa Ebose placed fifth in two events and broke the school record in the discus throw to lead the Swarthmore College women's track & field team at the Lions' Invitational on Saturday, Apr. 26 at TCNJ's Track & Field Complex.
Ebose eclipsed her own program standard in the discus by registering a toss that sailed 135-feet, 6-inches to also finish second among Division III athletes in the event at the non-scoring meet. The mark surpassed her previous record of 132-8, which she notched last spring. Ebose also finished fifth in the shot put with a mark of 41-10.75. Other notable performances in the field events were made by freshman
Maggie O'Neil, who improved her collegiate-best marks in the shot put and discus with throws of 35-6.75 and 99-8.
In the track events, the Garnet got strong performances from sophomore
Katie Lin and junior
Julia Nee as well as senior
Emma Saarel. Lin and Nee recorded the program's fastest 100-meter dash times this spring by hitting the tape in 13.17 and 13.18 seconds, respectively, while Saarel notched a collegiate-best time of 5:00.02 in the 1,500-meter run.
Swarthmore will spend the week preparing to host the Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Clothier Field from May 2-4. The Garnet placed second at the league's indoor meet this past winter.
