Katie Lytle has been named to the 2013-14 D3Hoops.com Preseason All-America Third Team, as announced by the national organization on Tuesday, Nov. 12. The senior guard is the only Centennial Conference player to be recognized.
A native of Harrisburg, Pa., Lytle is coming off a career season in which she helped the Garnet put together to its best winter in over a decade with a 23-7 ledger and an ECAC title. She led the team in scoring (15.1 ppg), rebounding (12.2 pg) and steals (74) while ranking second in assists (74) and blocks (32). The senior also finished the season with 21 double-doubles in 30 games, which ranked third nationally, and was among the league leaders in all five statistical categories.
For her efforts, Lytle was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Year, the ECAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player, an ECAC South Region First Team selection, a D3Hoops.com All-Mid-Atlantic First Team honoree and was a member of the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team as a junior in 2012-13. In addition, she was honorably mentioned for D3Hoops.com All-America laurels.
Lytle, who enters her senior campaign with 967 career points, could become the ninth player in program history to reach the 1,000-point plateau when Swarthmore hosts the Tip-Off Tournament on Nov. 16-17. The Garnet will first battle against Kean on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
