Christyn Abaray is the Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania.  

Upon her arrival at Swarthmore in 2004 as the Assistant Director of Athletics, Christyn devised and implemented an athletics facilities plan that includes an outside use fee schedule and rental policies and procedures for all of the athletics facilities.  She coordinated and scheduled the athletics facilities for all team practices and games, intramural contests, club sports practices and events, campus events as well as all outside use groups.  Since becoming the Associate Director of Athletics/SWA, in addition Abaray directly supervises coaches and departmental personnel and manages team budgets of the department, acts as the departmental Compliance Coordinator, acts as a liaison with the Dean’s Office and handles the NCAA/EADA reporting.  She also is Swarthmore’s SAAC advisor. 

Abaray serves on several campus committees, including the College Judicial Committee and the College Long-Range Planning Staff Committee.  She also serves on the board of the Swarthmore Black Cultural Center.  She has acted as tournament director for a number of NCAA, ECAC, Centennial Conference, and Seven Sisters Championship events at Swarthmore. 

A graduate of the NACWAA/Hers Institute, the NCAA Leadership Institute for Ethnic Minority Males and Females, and the Division III Institute, Abaray currently is a participant in the NCAA Pathway (formerly the Fellows) Program.  She serves as Chair of the NCAA Division III Nominating Committee.  She is also a member of the NACWAA Legislative and Governance Committee and is a mentor in the NACMA/NACDA Female Mentoring Program.  Abaray previously served on the NCAA Division III Membership Committee, the NCAA Division III Women and Ethnic Minority Internship Selection Committee, the NCAA Woman of the Year National Selection Committee and as a facilitator in the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Conferences.  
 
A Cincinnati, Ohio native, Christyn received a B.A. in Anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis, where she was an NSCAA All-America soccer player, and an M.A. in Exercise and Sport Science (focusing in sport administration) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  While at UNC, Abaray worked in the athletics business office, where she reconciled team accounts and handled all deposits for the athletics department.  Abaray also spent a year as an athletics academic coordinator at Miami University (OH) assisting student-athletes with academic decisions and instituting different workshops through the CHAMPS/Life Skills program.  She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Educational Leadership and Management at Drexel University.
 

Christyn resides in Drexel Hill, Pa. with her husband, Chris, and son, Jackson.
