Swarthmore Athletics Announces Creation of Garnet Hall of Fame

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - In an effort to commemorate exceptional performances by teams and individuals associated with athletics at Swarthmore College, the Department of Athletics will establish the Garnet Hall of Fame.

Nominations are now being accepted for the inaugural class. Induction of the inaugural class into the Garnet Hall of Fame will take place at an awards banquet during the 2011-12 academic year. Inductees to the Garnet Hall of Fame will be categorized as athletes, coaches, teams, or special associates. An official induction date for the inaugural class will be announced at a later time.

"Creating the Hall of Fame represents the next step in an ongoing commitment to Garnet Athletics and an opportunity to celebrate and remember some truly distinctive accomplishments from throughout the program's history," said Adam Hertz, the Marian Ware Director of Physical Education and Athletics.

Eligible candidates for the Garnet Hall of Fame must be Swarthmore College graduates, members of the Swarthmore College community, or individuals who have made a significant and distinctive impact on Swarthmore College Athletics and Swarthmore College.

A Hall of Fame Board and committee will oversee nominations for the Garnet Hall of Fame.
